Division Events

The biennial Chapman Oration commemorates one of our early members, Brigadier Wilfrid Dinsey Chapman, a person whose life provided an inspiration for all professional engineers. Brigadier Chapman was Victoria Division State Chairman in 1932, President of Engineers Australia in 1944 and a Councillor from 1935 to 1955, the year in which he died aged 64 years. He left such a profound impression on his colleagues of the time that within four years of his untimely death, Engineers Australia, Victoria Division inaugurated the Chapman Oration.

Engineers Australia, Victoria Division invites you to dine with explorer, environmental scientist and author Tim Jarvis.

Tim will inspire you with his extraordinary story of survival and the incredible limits of human endurance as he shares his account of various expeditions to some of the world's most remote regions, including his latest expedition 'Mawson - Life and Death in Antarctica' a journey that sought to retrace Sir Douglas Mawson's incredible polar survival journey of 1912/13.

This first-hand account by the voyageur himself will focus on leadership and motivational lessons that can be learnt from expeditions and how they can be applied at both a personal or business level.
