47th Chapman Oration & Dinner
2008
presented by URS
Tim Jarvis Inspires Engineers with his Spirit of Adventure!
Famous adventurer, environmental scientist and
author Tim Jarvis both fascinated and inspired a crowd of
almost 300 guests with his extraordinary story of survival
at Engineers Australia, Victoria Division's 47th Chapman Oration
& Dinner, presented by URS at Palladium Crown on Thursday
20 November 2008.
In his presentation titled 'Spirit of Adventure',
Tim vividly and humorously recounted his experiences of various
expeditions to some of the world's most remote regions, including
his latest expedition 'Mawson - Life and Death in Antarctica'
- a journey that sought to retrace Sir Douglas Mawson's incredible
polar survival journey of 1912/13.
Tim's presentation was highly motivational as
he built parallels between the challenges he faced on his
polar trips with the challenges we all face in our lives both
personally and professionally.
Engineers Australia Victoria Division would
like to acknowledge the generous support of URS for its generous
support as Principal sponsors and Engineering Education Australia
for its Supporting sponsorship of the 47th Chapman Oration
& Dinner.
